Approach & Focus

IMAM engages in lawful advocacy activities fully consistent with Section 501(c)(3) regulations. Its advocacy aims to elevate public understanding of issues affecting Muslims in India and Muslim Americans, while supporting broader efforts to promote religious freedom, defend human rights and constitutional guarantees, and empower future generations.

Our mission is to “Advance Religious Freedom, Defend Human Rights, and Empower Future Generations”

Our work is guided by three core pillars that define our focus:

I. Research & Education

  • IMAM advances evidence-based research and public education to deepen understanding of issues affecting Muslims in India and Muslim Americans, particularly religious freedom, human rights, Islamophobia, and transnational repression, ensuring that public discourse is grounded in credible information and rigorous analysis.

II. Advocacy, Campaigns & Civic Engagement

  • IMAM advances informed civic participation through lawful advocacy, public campaigns, and strategic outreach to policymakers, think tanks, civil rights and human rights organizations, and media.

III. Leadership & Empowerment

  • IMAM advances youth leadership and age-inclusive engagement to strengthen community capacity while preserving and uplifting Indian Muslim identity, culture, and heritage – fostering a community rooted in dignity, service, and justice.
